This role requires a high degree of startup mindset focusing on fit-for-purpose market offering, Customer Value Propositions, and sector specific advocacy, ultimately with the strategic intent to develop a material new market segment for Shell.

Downstream LNG is a startup business within Shell LNG Trading and Marketing (SLMT) that is responsible for leading the development of a marine LNG bunkering business for Shell. To meet this aspiration and SLMT’s vision to grow a new market for LNG demand in bunkering and deliver a sustainable material value segment, the strategy is centered on enabling market take-off by removing barriers and getting in position to be ready for growth by:
Addressing barriers to market take off through the offering of novel CVPs and advocacy efforts
Focusing on large and early adopter segments
Developing sustainable competitive advantages in key bunkering hubs globally
This is a significant challenge and requires a hands on, commercially edgy and entrepreneurial approach. It requires a startup mindset with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners, and a very good understanding of the value drivers and levers of Shell’s LNG trading portfolio.
Specifically, this role will:
Identify and prioritize the prospective marine LNG bunkering opportunities globall
Develop, negotiate, deliver and close Term Sheets, Heads of Agreements and Sale and Purchase Agreements while working with the deal structuring team to deliver a customer-centric solution
Build, manage relationship and account plan with key customers
Maintain a long term mind-set of setting the business up for future success, in conjunction with a short term focus of securing LNG marine deals
Work with various Shell teams on opportunities, collaborating with colleagues within Shell Energy, Shipping & Maritime and other parts of Shell
What we need from you
Knowledge and experience working in the trading, LNG and marine fuel business
Proven track record of success in business development, trading, B2B commercial marketing, or other deal making roles
Effective in business case preparation, presentation and engagement with senior management to obtain approvals
Experience in interacting with and managing customers and other external stakeholders, building effective personal relationships
Ability to negotiate, progress and conclude contracts with external counterparties
Strong commercial acumen
Demonstrated success leading multi-cultural and multi-functional teams, with ability to progress work collaboratively as well as individually
Candidates should understand the challenges and opportunities that being part of a small start-up organization provide
Courage and perseverance to drive and secure acceptance of new ideas and new business models
Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving
Regional travel will be required to meet with customers and stakeholders
Proficiency in Mandarin, Japanese and/or Korean
