The New Energies group in Shell is focused on leading in the energy transition towards a low-carbon future through power/electrification, supporting our aim to power progress together through more and cleaner energy solutions. The Energy Solutions team is an integral part of Shell’s global New Energy organization and with a mission to guide customers toward a better energy future, by enabling customer choice and by providing market-leading energy solutions.

This role focuses on the consumer home energy business with an initial focus on North-West Europe. The rapidly-evolving retail energy market is a natural place for Shell to expand its business, building on the trusted relationships we have built with our millions of Shell fuel station customers. We aim to grow our customer base by offering an attractive range of products and a real alternative to other companies in the sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As New Business Development Lead you will:


Identify new business opportunities in the Consumer Energy sector - including new markets, potential targets and customers books, growth areas and trends.
Conduct assessment of potential targets and act as a Business lead supporting deal teams on acquisition projects.
Define key criteria for opportunity scouting and refine assessment methodology for potential targets (based on current insights and acquisitions).
Seek out the appropriate contact in an organization and meet with counterparties face to face or over the phone.
Understand the needs of key internal and external stakeholders and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
Work with product development, consumer marketing managers and other business teams to get insights of value creation and potential synergies.

Requirements:


Commercial professional with significant years of business development experience and a proven track record of developing and implementing new business plans in the retail energy industry.
Experience in strategy, M&A and financial modelling in the retail energy industry.
Experienced in market/solutions development in new segments and markets for Shell or externally.
Proven ability to lead cross-business and -functional projects in uncertain environments.
Experience in energy retailing and/or power business is mandatory.
Ability to think and work strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting objectives in order to develop and improve the business as well as carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes.
External network relevant to Consumer Energy (potential customers, innovators, entrepreneurs, OEMs, industry thought leaders, industry associations, regulatory bodies, etc.) would be an advantage.
